NEW YORK – A tractor-trailer somehow crashed on a Bronx street, ending up crushing a vehicle with a woman inside, authorities say.
Fortunately and miraculously, the woman in the car was not seriously injured, despite the fact that heavy machinery crushed her car like pancakes.
Emergency crews removed the woman, who is in her 20s, from the car shortly after the crash at about 10:30 a.m., between Jerome Avenue and Bedford Park Boulevard, sources said. They added that he was conscious and alert.
The FDNY said one person was taken to the hospital.
A video posted on the Citizen app showed the massive emergency response at the scene. Part of what appeared to be a tow truck was stretched out into the street as firefighters and onlookers waited.
About 30 workers at a nearby construction site were told to leave the premises as a precaution pending an assessment by the Department of Buildings (DOB).
No other information was immediately available.
