Russia’s unjustified war against Ukraine is exacerbating the world’s food security crisis. The EU and its member states remain united in the face of Russia’s military aggression in Ukraine and are committed to tackling the global food crisis.

The EU countries have established solidarity runners to export essential food products from Ukraine and overcome the Russian blockade of Black Sea ports. Since May 2022, about ten million tons of grain and oilseeds from Ukraine have been exported through these corridors.

Grain shipments across the Black Sea resumed in July 2022 following an agreement brokered by the United Nations according to Black Sea Grains Initiative. To date, more than three million tons of grain and other products have been transported.

The song “Women in conflict”

On September 21, 2022, President Michel will organize the third edition of “Women in Conflict”, which will focus on voices of young women activists and leaders working in conflict or post-conflict areas.

This event will bring together survivors, activists, policy makers and leaders. Likewise, it will make it possible to review previous editions of «Women in conflict» and provide continuity in «Statement on actions to empower women in conflict», adopted on 9 June 2022.

The event will coincide with the week of the United Nations General Assembly and will be broadcast live.
